Meet Ella Shahbazian

Ella Shahbazian is a 15-year-old author, youth advocate, and founder of Ella’s Angels, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering and uplifting young people across Los Angeles. While maintaining a 4.0 GPA at Rose & Alex Pilibos School and completing 21 college credits through LACC, Ella has always believed that education should prepare young people not only for exams, but for real life. That belief is what inspired her to write The Real-Life Financial Resource Guide for Youth. Growing up, Ella noticed a huge gap in what teens are taught in school versus what they actually need to know to succeed̶ especially around money. Many of her friends didn’t understand taxes, budgeting, credit, or how to plan for their future. She saw how financial stress impacted families in her community and realized that most young people enter adulthood without the tools to navigate even the basics of financial independence. Instead of waiting for change, Ella decided to create a resource herself̶ written by a teen, for teens.

Her Motivation for Writing This Book

If every young person had access to practical financial knowledge early on, their futures could look dramatically different.

Drawing from her own learning experiences, online courses from Yale, Harvard, University of Geneva, and the University of London, and countless conversations with educators and students, Ella built a guide that is clear, relatable, and easy to use. Her goal is to break complicated financial concepts into simple steps so teens can feel confident and prepared long before they enter the real world.

Ella hopes this book will spark a movement of youth financial empowerment̶ one where teens understand their worth, know their options, and make informed choices that shape a better future. True to the mission of Ella’s Angels, this project reflects her belief that when teens are given knowledge and support, they don’t just survive̶ they thrive, lead, and inspire positive change in their communities
